(Sr) Research Associate/Associate Scientist - Cell Biology

Scismic is supporting the growth of a biotech company in Woburn, MA!

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual with experience in cell biology to join theTissue Engineering team. The Research Associate will support the development of tissue chip models which recapitulate the phenotypic and molecular functions that are important to drug discovery and development. The Research Associate’s role will include planning and execution of experiments, preparation of reagents (media, drug stocks), biochemical/immuno assays, and data analysis. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic and self-motivated scientist with demonstrated experience with human cell culture, has good interpersonal and communication skills, and is well organized with excellent attention to detail. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments using cell biology and bioengineering tools (tissue culture, microscopy, biochemical/immune-based assays, qPCR)
  • Work as part of a collaborative team to design, plan and execute experiments that support research activities and project goals
  • Follow standard operating procedures and good laboratory practices; Maintain laboratory in a clean and safe manner.
  • Maintain well documented laboratory records.
  • Analyze data and communicate results within the project team
Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S level scientist with 1+ years of experience in cell biology, bioengineering, or related field. Appointment level will depend on skill set and years of experience.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique, human primary or iPSC cell culture experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience executing experiments using cell biology and bioengineering tools (including but not limited to: immunostaining and fluorescent microscopy, qPCR, biochemical/immune-based assays)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to follow complex instructions, multitask, carefully document work in written records
  • Solid organizational and planning skills; self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Basic data analysis and statistical skills are required
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, dynamic, and results-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint
