Scismic is supporting the growth of a biotech company in Germantown, Maryland!
We are looking for a Virologist to join our team in the Preclinical department. They will be responsible for the production of virus in a BSL-2 lab, perform routine virological assays (e.g. TCID50, plaque assay, and hemagglutination).

Job Description
- In depth knowledge and experience in Virology is required and developing relevant virological/Immunological assays
- Perform virological assays - TCID50, plaque assay, and hemagglutination
- Perform neutralization and ADCC assays.
- Production of virus in a BSL-2 lab. BSL-3 experience is a plus.
- Experience in Cell based assay and mammalian cell culture.
- Team Player with good interpersonal skills.
- Design and execute robust laboratory experiments, interpret data, communicate findings, and maintain high-quality records.
- Troubleshoots and solves problems in the design/execution of projects
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations
- Contribute to scientific discussions and strategic collaborations with academic or industrial partners aimed at advancing the company's technology.
- Maintains knowledge of principles and theories through familiarity with competing technologies and/or products and review of current scientific literature
Qualifications
- M.S in Virology, Molecular biology, Immunology with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience.
- Ph.D in Virology, Molecular biology, Immunology with a minimum of 1+ years’ experience.
- Hands on experience in Virology and virological assays is a must.
- Prior experience in virological assay and Preclinical development of RSV, Influenza ,SARS CoV2 or other viral vaccine projects.
- Prior experience in TCID50, plaque assay, and hemagglutination and neutralization assays.
- Industry related experience preferred
- Ability to manage and perform in multiple projects at a time.
- Desire to work in a team-first, fast-paced environment, learn new skills, and to efficiently solve problems
- Attention to detail & meticulous record keeping.
